The Governor is the chief executive of the state whose function is to administer the laws of the state. One of the activities used to accomplish this function is the administering of executive decisions and actions. This series consists of the administrative files of Governor Guy Hunt, including records generated by Governor George C. Wallace in the final months of his last administration. The series contains correspondence, memoranda, reports, petitions, and legal documents. The records provide information concerning major administrative decisions. The files are divided into general, school, and miscellaneous categories. Subjects include aging, consumer affairs, education, industrial relations, tourism, and other topics of interest to the state and its chief executive. There is considerable correspondence from citizens regarding Father Edward Markley, a Catholic priest sentenced to five years in prison for destroying equipment in a women's clinic.
